After the advisory group at Leeds Deaf Youth Club, I caught up with my supervisor Ben Shirley over Skype to discuss my findings from the young adults.
On our google documents idea pool, we outlined the most significant outcomes of the advisory group and points moving on from what the young adults spoke about.
From here, I came to a conclusion on what tool I want to research and develop to aid the deaf community: speech recognition to convert speech to text. The idea was extracted from what the young adults at the youth club discussed – not being able to play teamwork games with the hearing.
Ben mentioned speaking with Mike Armstrong who is based at the BBC who carries out research into subtitles.
